01.10.2018.
(Sarajevo, 28 September 2018) – The High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina (HJPC BiH) has launched a three-year project "Building an Effective and Citizen-Friendly Judiciary" financed by the EU through the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance - IPA 2017.
The project seeks to ensure better service delivery for citizens, enhance the overall effectiveness, accountability and transparency of the BiH judiciary and increase public trust in the country’s justice system. These objectives are essential elements in strengthening the rule of law in BiH, which, together with BiH's judicial reform, is a key requirement for BiH's progress towards the EU accession.
To achieve these objectives, the HJPC will, together with its partners - BiH judicial institutions, implement a number of activities including:
- support to courts and prosecutor’s offices for increased processing of economic crime and commercial law cases,
- managerial capacity building for court presidents,
- ensuring adequate IT tools and services in the BiH's judiciary,
- promotion of Alternative Dispute Resolution method (ARS) and
- meeting the recommendations of the European Commission arising from the peer review.
With this project, the HJPC BiH continues to build an effective judiciary in BiH able to meet the requirements of the EU accession process, provide good quality services to citizens, and be a guarantor of legal security and equal access to justice in BiH.
